Code Geass (Lelouch of the Rebellion) adalah anime action mecha yang bercerita tentang sosok antiherobernama Zero dan pemberontakannya melawan Kekaisaran Britania. Pada tahun 2010, Kekaisaran Suci Britania Raya dengan kekuatan militernya berhasil menaklukan Jepang dan mendominasi politik dunia. Orang Jepang yang tak terima lantas melakukan aksi perlawanan demi kemerdekaan mereka.

Setelah dijajah oleh Inggris, Jepang pun berganti nama menjadi Area 11. Hal ini dilakukan dengan maksud memastikan wilayah Jepang termasuk dalam area kekuasaan Britania, seraya membuat generasi Jepang menyadari bahwa mereka hidup dalam kekaisaran baru dan tak lagi memiliki negara. Pelajar Inggris Lelouch Lamperouge melihat diskriminasi yang buruk terhadap orang Jepang.

Konflik yang memanas membuat Lelouch terjebak dalam kontak militer antara tentara Inggris dan pasukan pemberontak. Di tengah kekacauan, ia mendapatkan kekuatan mata Geass yang diberikan oleh gadis misterius bernama C.C., membuatnya dapat menghipnotis siapapun untuk menuruti kemauannya. Menyadari potensinya, Lelouch pun ikut bertempur dibalik topeng samaran "Zero".
